When the hurricanes hit Louisiana in 2008 and the evacuations
north started, the agency network responsible for dissemination
of shelter and resource information was caught on the paper
trail. Just about as soon as they printed and distributed
the most up to date information for their telephone operators,
that data was obsolete. The solution was an online and
interactive database that supervisors could input current
information about shelters and other resources in the back
office and that data would be immediately shown on the screen of
operators in 6 call centers across Louisiana and two back ups in
California. We developed the system which is presently in
a deactivated state until the next emergency. Louisiana
hopes that they never pull it back out. Administration for
