Database
Applications
Is your office
database useless on the road?
Imagine, being able to access your database from
any internet connection in the world? Having the greatest
database in the world is useless if it's back home on your desk, and
you're in a hotel room someplace a million miles from home.
You need your data and you need it now. Or maybe you need to
be able to share or collect data from other people and have
immediate access to that database. That's what we do.
We can develop a database to meet your needs
You can access that database with a password from anywhere
Input, Edit and Export data online to your local computer
Multiple users can be online at one time
We take your database in an access format,
and develop an ASP project that we then install onto a
hosting server that you can then access and manipulate
your data from any internet location, using a login.
You access your data by going to
a website, entering your password and then entering the
management portal. Examples of the database design can
be seen on many of the websites that are featured in our
website gallery. As an example... the website
for the Investigator-network features a searchable database
that may appear to some as if it is a static webpage.
In reality, the data being
presented on screen in a website form is actually
originating from a database that allows the administrator to
add, edit or delete records online in real time. Make
a change online in Dallas and that change is immediately
available on the site being displayed to a user in New York.
This is perfect for contact
records, prospecting and client databases where you need
your data updated from many different locations. Let's
talk about how we can put this concept to work for you.
Database Design
Process
Like any database, the design process
for an online database starts with an outline. What tables and
fields are needed. We build our base project using MS Access
and need you to provide us an example of the data that you will need
to store and how it relates to each other.
Consider these points:
How many tables are needed?
Make an outline as to how your data is to be stored and
accessed. Do we need to break it down into different
tables?
What type of queries or reports will you
need online? As an example, a client database might
have a query for current clients, prior clients or prospect
clients. You could query the main database for this
information or you might want a ready made table that will
display this output immediately.
Will there be different levels of
security in the database? As an example, you might
have someone trusted to enter and edit data but then need a
low level employee to be able to read the data. What
security levels do you need?
How many records will your database have?
How often will you access the database?
Is this a client database that you will access from time to
time, or do you plan to use this database on a high volume
data entry task?
What type of data will be stored?
Numbers and Text or will you want to store files and images?
