Database Applications - Design Process
Like any database, the design process
for an online database starts with an outline. What tables and
fields are needed. We build our base project using MS Access
and need you to provide us an example of the data that you will need
to store and how it relates to each other.
Consider these points:
|
-
How many tables are needed?
Make an outline as to how your data is to be stored and
accessed. Do we need to break it down into different
tables?
-
What type of queries or reports will you
need online? As an example, a client database might
have a query for current clients, prior clients or prospect
clients. You could query the main database for this
information or you might want a ready made table that will
display this output immediately.
-
Will there be different levels of
security in the database? As an example, you might
have someone trusted to enter and edit data but then need a
low level employee to be able to read the data. What
security levels do you need?
-
How many records will your database have?
-
How often will you access the database?
Is this a client database that you will access from time to
time, or do you plan to use this database on a high volume
data entry task?
-
What type of data will be stored?
Numbers and Text or will you want to store files and images?
|
We take your database in an access format,
and develop an ASP project that we then install onto a hosting
server that you can then access and manipulate your data from
any internet location, using a login.
